This is because each of Lutheran's experience centers, as well as the majority of its ancillary services are accredited, certified or verified by the nation's top governing body for that specialty. Each center and most of the ancillary department have undergone a meticulous evaluation process and has met stringent criteria set by the governing body. After on-site surveys and numerous interviews with staff, the governing body awards accreditation, certification or verification status to those facilities that meet the required criteria. In addition, all centers must undergo reaccreditation every two to four years, depending on the specialty. This means patient-care standards remain at the highest level at all times.
Lutheran's heart, cancer, children's hospital, childbirth, weight management/bariatrics, sleep and neonatal intensive care programs are all accredited, as well as its inpatient and outpatient medical ancillary departments. These include radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, anesthesiology, respiratory and physical therapy and rehab, and are reaccredited every three years.
